17 weeks update - a little late

I didn't get my weekly email this week, which was disappointing. Hopefully I get it again next week. Anyway, here is the update!

Our baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Our baby weighs 5 ounces now ( about as much as a turnip ), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Gary and Sharon arrived in Des Moines Thursday night to hang out for the weekend. We are pretty excited for the super bowl on Sunday. Go Steelers!!

On another sadder note..we found out that Zach and I aren't going to be able to go on the cruise in May that we had planned with so many friends and family. The cruise apparently doesn't allow you to get on the ship if you are further than 24 weeks along. I will be at that point, so it looks like it's a no go for us :-( We are going to try to plan something else maybe next year for everyone again.

  1. So disappointing, but probably better for the baby. I'm not sure if I can even afford to go anymore, so I might be out, too. We definitely need to plan something again soon!
